SOLD OUT 16th Annual Women United Luncheon was a BIG Success!
Members and guests raised over $75,000 in support of local foster youth
Last week, 450 Women United members and guests raised more than $75,000 at the 16th annual luncheon! The money raised will be used to support United Way’s foster youth program. Guests celebrated the amazing work that makes a difference in the lives of local foster youth and enjoyed hearing from special guest, Olympic gold medalist, Simone Biles. It was a real treat to see the teens in United programs walk with confidence down the runway during the fashion show.
We also welcomed several new members to Women United and many members stepped up to the next level of membership, including our newest Platinum membership level.
At the luncheon, we heard from Simone Biles who is a true testament to the success a former foster youth can achieve with a strong support system. While not every foster child in Sacramento will get adopted, Women United members play a pivotal role in ensuring teens have bright futures by keeping them in school and on track, setting high expectations for their success through funding special savings accounts (IDAs), and ensuring strong support through things like our life skills workshops.
We can’t thank our donors enough for their generosity and passion! We are excited for the year ahead as United Way aims to help more foster youth bloom. With your continued support, we’ll get there!
If you attended the luncheon, please take few minutes to tell us about your experience. Take the event survey. Please provide feedback by Nov. 18.
What’s next for Women United? Every year our members come together to support local foster youth during the holiday season. We’re already gearing up for the annual holiday gift and stocking drive supporting local foster youth. This drive concludes with a volunteer event on November 30. Learn more here.
